Who we are
LYFE Offshore is an iOS application for offshore sailors, developed by Kalle Coster, based in the Netherlands. We take your privacy seriously — both because it's the law and because we think it's the right way to build software.

What data we collect — and what we don't
LYFE Offshore is designed to process as much as possible directly on your device. Here's exactly what we collect and what stays local.
Waitlist email address
If you join the waitlist on our website, we collect your email address. That's it. No name required, no phone number, no account created.
GPS and location data — on-device only
The app uses your device's GPS to power Anchor Watch, AIS Watch, and other features. This data is processed entirely on your iPhone and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.
NMEA sensor data — on-device only
Data from connected instruments — wind speed, depth, heading, battery voltage, and other NMEA streams — is processed locally on your device in real time. None of this is uploaded, stored remotely, or shared.
To be explicit: the app does not phone home. Your vessel's position, route, or sensor readings are not transmitted to LYFE Offshore or any third-party service. What happens on your boat stays on your boat.
How we use your email address
If you joined our waitlist, we use your email address to:
- Notify you when LYFE Offshore is available for download
- Send occasional product updates, new feature announcements, or early access invitations
- Respond to any support or feedback you send us
We will not sell your email address. We will not share it with third-party marketers. You can unsubscribe from any email we send with a single click, and we'll remove you from our list promptly.
Third-party services
Our website uses standard hosting infrastructure to receive and store waitlist submissions. We do not run third-party analytics scripts on our site or in the app. We do not use tracking pixels, advertising networks, or social media SDKs.
If this changes in the future, we'll update this policy and communicate the change clearly before it takes effect.
Data storage and security
Waitlist email addresses are stored securely with our hosting provider. We retain your email only for as long as you remain on the waitlist or until you request deletion. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect it from unauthorised access.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you believe your data has been compromised, please contact us immediately at support@lyfeoffshore.com.
Your rights under GDPR
LYFE Offshore is based in the Netherlands, and we process data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). As a user, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data (the right to be forgotten)
- Portability — request your data in a common machine-readable format
- Object — object to processing for direct marketing at any time
- Restrict — request that we limit how we process your data in certain circumstances
To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@lyfeoffshore.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you believe we've not handled your data lawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
Children's privacy
LYFE Offshore is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with their email address, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Where the changes are significant, we'll also send a notification to waitlist subscribers. Your continued use of the app or website after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
